Description
Steinlen, known for using family members, including the cats, as inspiration for his drawings and posters, uses his daughter Colette’s humanity as the main subject for this particular piece of work. She is shown here carefully tasting the milk to make sure it isn’t too hot before she places it down before them. Used by a milk distributor by the name of Quillot Brothers in the village of Montigny sur Vingeanne, this poster became one of Steinlen’s most famous and assured him a place atop the list of all-time great poster artists.
