Tiffany Favrile Glass and Bronze Turtleback Tile Zodiac Lamp

Description

This classic lamp is suitable for a side table or nightstand. Its head consists of two identical turtleback jewels. One forms the “front” and one the “back” of the shade; both are metal-rimmed and joined by triangular side pieces, also of bronze. The turtlebacks are characteristically round-corned and rough-surfaced, with uneven humps and hollows; iridescent multi-hued swirls accentuate the irregularites. Hobnails form the main ornamentation of the metallic areas. At its sides, the head of the lamp is hinged to two curved arms; joined at the main stem of the base, yet retaining their separate shapes, they descend to the circular platform.
